Life is a journey in this world:
Life is a journey in this world; everyone has its own way of living life some lives to full some falls on the mid-way. We never are happy with our way of life, we always want more to grab and less to spend. It is not a quality or a bad habit; it is just the fitrat of mankind. From the beginning of the world these things happen to occur and will also go forward in the future. We can’t change our way of life but we can strengthen it and can try to make it better even in today’s world of greed and betrayal. One cannot expect always good from others but one can always do well for others it’s the way by which we can make our lives better and cheerful. We are living in the world’s most tense area so we have to remember that always. I can quote here the five qualities of pencil given by the Brazilian author, of ‘The Alchemist’, Paulo Coelho, which are related to our lives.
He puts them as follows,
First quality: You are capable of great things, but you must never forget that there is a hand guiding your steps. We call that hand God, and He always guides us according to His will.
I think this is the first principle of life, we must never forget this thing. These are not just some words; these are the pillars of our life’s empire. Everyone has the ability of doing great things, not by own but by the grace of Almighty God only. We can’t rule out this, it is also what Quran says to us.
Second quality: Now and then, I have to stop writing and use a sharpener. That makes the pencil suffer a little, but afterwards, he’s much sharper. So you, too, must learn to bear certain pains and sorrows, because they will make you a better person.
This is what we all must remember; when we have any sorrow or pain we start to blame everyone whosoever comes into our way. We hurt many even we cut off many from our lives. We should keep patience to bear those sorrows after which we can see a new better tomorrow. Humans do not have power to give sorrow or pain to others, its Almighty God who test us in those bad times. We have to stand still to that test of Almighty God.
Third quality: The pencil always allows us to use an eraser to rub out any mistakes. This means that correcting something we did is not necessarily a bad thing; it helps to keep us on the road to justice.
Here this thing is clear that we should not feel bad if we did some mistake in our life, we can correct it. Simply is that if we hurt somebody we can say him sorry, this is what correcting means. If we are doing any wrong thing we can make our mind to quit it from today, right now. By stopping doing bad deeds, we are not giving anything to anyone; it’s we who at last are receiving the pious and a good life.
Fourth quality: What really matters in a pencil is not its wooden exterior, but the graphite inside. So always pay attention to what is happening inside you.
This thing is always important in our life, and more is for the Muslim Ummah. It is in the Quran that we should always be true from core of heart not from the body language. Allah in the Quran says;
“Allah will not call you to account which is unintentional in your oaths, but He will call you to account for that which your hearts have earned. And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most-forbearing.”
(Ch: 2, Verse: 225)
We cannot rule out at last it is inside of our body which matters not the physical appearance, we should be pious and true from our hearts. Our hearts should not be filthy with greed of money and power.
Fifth quality: Pencil always leaves a mark. In just the same way, you should know that everything you do in life will leave a mark, so try to be conscious of that in your every action.
It is the last quality of pencil and also for our life. We should leave a mark either in our profession or by contributing to the religion or to the society which is degrading day by day before we will be called by the Almighty God to leave this world. We are not unaware of the fact, how is moral degradation going on in the world, how we are less concerned to our society, we should do something concrete for our future generations.
What we say today will not be remembered by anyone but what we do today will be remembered by the future dynasties for millions of years, it will become history for future. So do it today, start it today, don’t be late till you end this journey of life.
