City Landmark- Ghanta Ghar with new look soon

The famous Ghanta Ghar (clock tower) in Srinagar city was made after the Managing Director of a corporate sector, Bajaj Group introduced the idea of it, when Sheikh Muhammad Abdullah was the state chief minister in early eighties .

Since then it is identified as the main centre of Srinagar city.

It is located in the commercial hub. On one side is Amira Kadal bridge, Maisuma area on the third side and residency road or the posh area in its fourth direction.The area remains crowded with people from all over the valley. With shopkeepers , shoppers , roadside vendors and commuters around it. The four sided clock tower, white in colour also attracts many tourists who visit here in the valley to enjoy the beauty. The clock tower is at the centre of the road and is surrounded by many shops on the road side.

The state government is beautifying the city centre Lal Chowk. Ghanta Ghar is also going through renovation with red bricks included to strengthen its walls. New clocks will be installed on its top in four different sides. The whole place around this tower is going to have a new look after the project for beautifying city centre will be over.
