"People have to choose from the worst"

As the general elections are coming ahead, campaigning is in its full bloom. Supporters and party workers are busy in their stuff of supporting their political leaders and parties, but its heart breaking for a voter to see the leaders delivering their hate speeches against a minority community, distributing cash in campaign rallies and the criminal background candidates filing their nominations and leaving no choice to voters. Recently in a debate on a TV channel, it was well said by actor-director Nandita Das that, “people have to choose from the worst”. Many political parties adding fuel to fire of communalism, raising religion based issues in high pitch. But how can we forget that India was called to be a secular state with every religion or community sharing the same democracy with same rights. How can be the educated society of this nation chooses the path of communalism? As we are living in 21st century, we are in competition with the world then how can we be so selfish of our religion. We should respect all other religions and follow our religion. Politicians are forcing us to indulge ourselves in these dirty political issues. These issues are always raised for yielding a good amount of vote crop. This system of politics is not meant for ‘Incredible India’, which we always use to say. These are only political means of getting mileage in their political careers and get a big belly of votes from it. We have other issues to debate on. Once the politicians were being called, the elected representatives of people but unfortunately now they have become representatives of particular communities or religions. All of them set their own kind of ideologies. We should clean this dirty well of politics by not voting for communalism or hatred.
